Baby dress and bolero

Is it lame to make my niece a matching dress to mine? I still have not met her yet. This was a Simplicity baby dress pattern. It took about 5 hours to complete. I learned that sewing bias on tiny baby armhole is enough to make you a murderer.

A Creative Way to Store Your Hair Flowers

I like to make my own hair flowers to match my outfits, so I have oodles of them. It ends up taking a lot of time to rummage through boxes of them looking for the pairs. So I went to the fabric store and bought nylon netting. My husband actually found a remnant for 70 cents! I hung a 2 foot by 3 foot rectangle of it on the wall in my bedroom. I clipped all the flowers right on! No more rummaging and I can see them all clearly! The netting allows the clips to go right through and attach easily. Best. Idea. Evar.

Hey Sailor Hey BIG MAMA! I am ready to play you some blues now! I have been spending time and money on my Blues Project: web design, planning photoshoots, practices, gigs, buying equipment, videos, logos, blah blah blah. If you are a musician- you understand how much work your ass does that it NEVER gets paid for! Anyhoo....I did a test bodice for the little 50s sundress with the trailor park print a long long long long way back. I even have a video on Youtube where I talk you through copying a new collar onto a pattern block using this pattern. I bought some extra Kona Cotton and finished it off into a full dress. It's pretty damn hot. I think Elvis le gusta mi vestido, no? I can be ridiculous when I want to be. This looks like a champu commercial. Ok you putas, here is you cheesecake pinup foto, already! Eposito is the photgrapher. I must have liked him that day. It was the very last night I went to perform with my former cover band - The Backseat Betties. I had a really good sho...

Finished Project: The Pat O Rama 50s Yoked-Sundress

It's done! The previous post with some pattern-talk is here. There is no point in curling your puta hair in the summertime in Virginia. Complete flop everytime by noon. My staple look has been wilted curls with matching handmade flower clips on either side. The fabric is a light stretch poplin from Jo Ann Fabrics Store in VA. Beads are my mother's shell necklaces. I get loads of nice comments on it. I think I will make more. I made one with scraps of the AH Asian Print fabric too and I love it so much. I should post a pic of that one...this has been the summer of the sundress. Stay tuned, I have another one to post shortly. The top of the bodice was very tricky to draft from the sloper. I think that took most of the time. The construction was easy because I skipped doing facings and instead did a full bodice lining. I think that goes faster than facings. The front button is a working button. STAY GLAM!
